Changing the Default Value of Each Function

You can change the default values of the items to specify on the Copy, Fax, Scanner, Document Server, or Print/Scan (Memory Storage Device) screen.

The settings return to their default values when the machine is turned on or when the machine is left without being operated for a specified period of time. You can simplify the operations of each function by changing the default values of the scan and print settings to the frequently-used values.

You can prohibit users other than the machine administrator, or the custom-privileges administrator that has equal privileges, from changing default values.

Specifying Menu Protect

Note

  • In the Document Server screen, the settings return to their default values when [Reset] is pressed.

  • You cannot register the default values for the following settings:

    • Copy
      Orientation of [2 Sided/Combine]

    • Fax
      [Subject], [Sender], destination

    • Scanner
      [Sender], destination, [PDF Security Settings], [Start Number]

    • Document Server

      • [Save Original] screen
        Folder to save the document, [File Name], [Password], [User Name], [Access Privileges]
      • [Print File] screen
        [Print Specified Page] settings

  1. On the Copy, Fax, Scanner, Document Server, or Print/Scan (Memory Storage Device) screen, select the setting to use as the default value.

    • To use the Print/Scan (Memory Storage Device) function, insert an USB flash memory device into the media slot on the control panel, and then edit the settings on the [Scan Settings] screen under [Scan to Storage Device] or the [Print Settings] screen under [Print from Storage Device].

    • When using the Document Server function, specify the settings on the [Save Original] screen or [Print Settings] screen. To display the [Print Settings] screen, select the document to print on the [Print File] screen, and then press [Print Settings].

  2. Press [Menu] () [Set Current Settings as Default].

    To restore the factory default settings, press [Reset Settings to Factory Default].
    The history of destinations is also erased as well when you restore the default value to the factory default settings in the [Scanner] screen.

  3. Press [Program], and then press [Exit].

  4. After completing the configuration, press [Home] ().
