The fan inside the machine near the vents may continue running to cool the machine after a large print job. While the fan is running, do not turn off the main power nor disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
- When scanning multiple originals continuously, the surface of the exposure glass may get hot. This is not a malfunction.
The area around the vents might feel warm. This is caused by exhaust air and is not a malfunction.
A change in temperature may cause dew condensation to occur inside the machine. If condensation occurs, leave the machine be for more than two hours and allow it to adapt to the environment before use. Also, use the anti-humidity heater to prevent condensation from occurring.
Do not turn off the power of the machine while a process is in progress. Before turning off the machine, check that all operations and processes are completed.
Do not open the covers or paper source tray while a process is in progress. A paper jam may occur.
Do not move or tilt the machine while the power is on, and do not expose the machine to vibration.
Ventilation
When you use this machine in a confined space without good ventilation for a long time or print large quantities, you might detect an odd smell.
This might cause the output paper to also have an odd smell.
When you detect an odd smell, regularly ventilate in order to keep the workplace comfortable.
Set up the machine so that it does not directly ventilate towards people.
Ventilation should be more than 30 m3/hr/person.
New machine smell
When a machine is new, it might have a unique smell. This smell will subside in about one week.
When you detect an odd smell, sufficiently ventilate and circulate the air in the room.
When you do not use the machine for a long period of time
Perform the following if you will not be using the machine for a long period of time.
Turn the power off, and disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet.
Turning On and Off the PowerRemove all the paper from every tray, and put the paper in a bag so that the paper can be sealed and stored.
- Close the bypass tray, and cover the auto document feeder (ADF) with a cloth to prevent the dust from entering.
If you leave the machine turned off for a long period of time, all the data may be erased. As a guide, when leaving the machine turned off for more than one year, make a backup copy of your data.
Making a Backup Copy of or Restoring User Data
When you resume using the machine after a long period of time
Clean the machine before use.
Cleaning the MachineDo not use old paper that was left in the paper trays. Use new paper.
The color balance of the printed image may have changed. Adjust the tones and color registration as necessary.
