Scan (Scanner Settings)

This section describes the settings in [Scan] under [Scanner Settings].

Scanner Function

Color/Density (Scanner Settings)

Setting Items	Description
Background Density of ADS (Full Color)	Specify the degree of removing the background color from five levels when scanning a magazine or newspaper and removing the background color. Default: (the level in the center among five levels)

Size/Reduce/Enlarge

Setting Items	Description
Program/Edit/Delete Scan Size	Register, change, or delete the size displayed in [Send Settings][Scan Size][Programmed Size] on the Scanner screen. You can register up to five settings.
Scan Ratio Setting	Specify the scaling ratio displayed in [Send Settings][Scan Ratio] on the Scanner screen. You can specify a custom ratio within the range of 25.0 to 400.0%.
Magnification Key Display (mainly North America)	Specify which scale of Scan Ratio Setting to show on the Scanner screen. Default: [Engineering]

Setting Items

Description

Program/Edit/Delete Scan Size

Register, change, or delete the size displayed in [Send Settings][Scan Size][Programmed Size] on the Scanner screen. You can register up to five settings.

Scan Ratio Setting

Specify the scaling ratio displayed in [Send Settings][Scan Ratio] on the Scanner screen. You can specify a custom ratio within the range of 25.0 to 400.0%.

Magnification Key Display

Region B icon (mainly North America)

Specify which scale of Scan Ratio Setting to show on the Scanner screen.

Default: [Engineering]

Blank Page Detection

Setting Items	Description
OCR Scanned PDF Blank Page Sensitivity	Specify the level of detecting blank pages when creating a text embedded PDF from five levels. In Sensitivity Level 1, only a page that is completely white is detected as blank. In Sensitivity Level 5, a page is detected as blank even when some smears or dust appear on the page. Default: (the second level from the left among five levels)

Timer Settings

Setting Items	Description
Wait Time for Next Original(s)	Specify the time to wait after scanning a page before starting scanning of the next page when scanning multiple pages of an original into a single file. Continuous Wait The machine waits for the next original to be placed until you press [Finish Scn]. No time limit is imposed. Off Transmission starts automatically after scanning a single page in an original. Set Wait Time Specify the time to wait for the next original to be placed (3-999 seconds) in [Wait Time for Next Original(s)]. Transmission starts automatically after the specified time elapses. The machine pauses counting down of the waiting time and waits until [Finish Scn] is pressed in the following cases: When you change the scan condition or other setting When you press [Interrupt] and perform copying operation When a paper jam occurs Default: [Set Wait Time], [60] second(s) Scanning Multiple Pages of Originals as One File
TWAIN Standby Time	If the machine receives a TWAIN scanning request while it is sending the scanned data by e-mail or to the specified folder or writing the scanned data to memory, it activates the network TWAIN scanner function either immediately or after the specified standby time period elapses following the last operation. Select whether to make the machine activate the network TWAIN scanner function immediately or upon expiration of the standby time period when it receives a TWAIN scanning request from a client computer. On Enter a time period before the network TWAIN scanner function is activated within the range of 3 to 30 seconds. When the time period specified here elapses following the last operation, the machine activates the network TWAIN scanner function. Off The machine immediately activates the network TWAIN scanner function. Default: [On], [10] second(s)

Setting Items

Description

Wait Time for Next Original(s)

Specify the time to wait after scanning a page before starting scanning of the next page when scanning multiple pages of an original into a single file.

Continuous Wait
The machine waits for the next original to be placed until you press [Finish Scn]. No time limit is imposed.
Off
Transmission starts automatically after scanning a single page in an original.
Set Wait Time
Specify the time to wait for the next original to be placed (3-999 seconds) in [Wait Time for Next Original(s)]. Transmission starts automatically after the specified time elapses.

Scanning Multiple Pages of Originals as One File

TWAIN Standby Time

Select whether to make the machine activate the network TWAIN scanner function immediately or upon expiration of the standby time period when it receives a TWAIN scanning request from a client computer.

On
Enter a time period before the network TWAIN scanner function is activated within the range of 3 to 30 seconds. When the time period specified here elapses following the last operation, the machine activates the network TWAIN scanner function.
Off
The machine immediately activates the network TWAIN scanner function.
