System (Printer Settings)
This section describes the settings in the [System] tab under [Printer Settings].
Setting Items | Description |
---|---|
Print Error Report | You can specify whether to have an error report printed when a printer or memory error occurs.
Auto Continue | When the paper specified on the printer driver is not set in the machine, you can specify whether the machine continues to print onto paper that has not been specified after a system error occurs (Forced Printing). When you specify [Immediate], forced printing starts. You can display the dialog for confirming whether to continue printing and specify to wait for a specified period of time (1 to 15 minutes). Depending on the machine settings, printing is canceled, and Forced Printing does not start. The results of Forced Printing cannot be guaranteed.
Store and Skip Errored Job | You can specify whether to store an error job in the machine and to print the next job. Normal Print, Sample Print, and Stored Print jobs can be stored in the machine when an error occurs. To activate this setting, specify the number of pages of the error job that the machine verifies when printing starts (1 to 999 pages). A large number of pages require time to start printing. If an error occurs after printing starts, the next job will not be printed.
Memory Overflow | When the sent data size is too large to process in the machine, you can specify whether to stop printing at the error page (Do not Print) or to continue printing. To continue printing, release the Staple and Sort functions, and print the error information last.
Error Display Setting | You can specify whether to display all print errors on the control panel. When you specify [Only Important Ones], some print errors are displayed.
Auto Cancel Confirmation for PDL Error Job | This is the user tool when you specify [Auto Cancel for Print Job(s) on Error] to [Display]. You can specify whether to display the screen to confirm auto cancelation of the error job on the control panel. The next job does not start until the screen disappears.
Auto Cancel for Print Job(s) on Error | When a print error occurs, you can specify whether to automatically cancel printing of the error job and the job received just before the error occurred.
Job Separation | Specify whether to shift the position of ejected sheets for each job alternately. You can sort the output sheets per job automatically when printing a large number of sheets from multiple jobs. This setting item can be selected only on IM 600SRF.
Rotate by 180 Degrees | You can specify when you rotate the print image 180 degrees relative to the paper orientation. Use this function to print onto paper whose orientation is fixed such as a letterhead or envelope.
Print Compressed Data | You can specify whether to uncompress and extract job data compressed in the GZIP format before printing.
Memory Usage | You can specify the memory priority of the machine. Select which memory has priority, Font Priority or Frame Priority.
Duplex | You can specify whether to print on both sides of each page.
Copies | You can specify the number of copies when printing without using the printer driver.
Blank Page Print | You can specify whether to print blank pages.
Edge Smoothing | You can specify whether to smooth along the edges of diagonal lines.
Toner Saving | You can specify whether to reduce toner consumption when printing. When this setting is enabled, print quality may be degraded.
Reserved Job Waiting Time | You can specify how long the machine waits to receive a print job before allowing other functions to interrupt it.
Printer Language | You can specify the printer language.
Sub Paper Size | You can specify whether A4 and 81/2 × 11 paper is treated as the same size.
Page Size | You can specify the default paper size. (mainly Europe and Asia)
(mainly North America)
Letterhead Setting | To print onto paper that has a fixed print side or print direction (letterhead paper, for example), make the settings for image rotation and print side correctly. Set the paper so that the paper orientation and print side are placed correctly. Loading Orientation-fixed Paper or Two-sided Paper
Tray Setting Priority |
Tray Setting Priority (Continued) | You can specify whether to give priority to the settings specified by the printer driver or the print command (paper size or paper type), or to the settings specified on the control panel. You can specify the following settings for the bypass tray. For Trays 1 to 5, you can specify either [Driver / Command] or [Machine Setting(s)].
Tray Setting Priority (Continued) |
Tray Setting Priority (Continued) |
Edge to Edge Print | You can specify whether to remove trailing, top, or bottom margins when printing a document.
Default Printer Language | You can specify the printer language to be used when the machine fails to detect the printer language.
Tray Switching | This is the user tool when you print by specifying the tray on the printer driver. You can specify whether to switch to Auto Paper Select when the paper set in the tray is different from the settings specified on the printer driver. If the same paper is set on another tray, the paper is fed from the tray.
Extended Auto Tray Switching | This is the user tool when you print by specifying the paper tray. You can specify whether to use the same paper set on another tray when the paper set in the designated tray runs out. If Auto Tray Switching for Print Settings of emulation is disabled, printing continues by Auto Tray Switching.
Jobs Not Printed As Machn. Was Off | You can specify whether to print Hold Print files whose specified print time has already passed when the machine's main power switch is turned on. When you select to not print, Hold Print files whose specified print time has already passed are invalid and will become [Auto Delete Temporary Print Jobs].
Restrict Direct Print Jobs | This restricts print files specified for [Normal Print], [Sample Print], or [Store and Print] under "Print Mode" on the printer driver. You can specify whether to store these files in the machine without printing or to cancel printing. This can help prevent leaving the output paper on the tray, creating confusion.
Auto Store Jobs without User Authent. Info | When [Auto Store Jobs] is selected on [Restrict Direct Print Jobs] and the machine is specified to authenticate users, specify to automatically store jobs without user authentication information.
Switch Initial Screen | You can specify which screen to display, Job List or Print Jobs, when you press [Printer (Classic)]
Auto Cancel Print Job if Key Card Removed/No Units | You can specify whether to cancel the job if no units remain on the key card or the key card is removed while printing is performed.
When Exceeded Max. Number of Sheets for Stapling | You can specify the machine's behavior when the number of pages in a document exceeds the maximum number of pages that can be stapled together. To continue printing, cancel the Staple function. When you specify [Suspend (Display Alert Screen)], you can select whether to continue or cancel printing when printing stops. This setting item can be selected only on IM 600SRF.
