Use this page to make changes to a virtual printer's settings.
Note
- Some items may not appear depending on machine type or configuration.
General Settings
You can change the virtual printer's name and the protocol it is using.
Virtual Printer Name
Enter a new virtual printer name, using up to 47 characters.
Note
- This option is available only if Protocol is set to TCP/IP (Unspecified, Normal), TCP/IP (Unspecified, Priority), or TCP/IP (RHPP).
- You cannot use spaces if Protocol is set to TCP/IP (Unspecified, Normal) or TCP/IP (Unspecified, Priority).
Protocol
Select the protocol that you want the virtual printer to use.
System
Configure the virtual printer's settings for basic operations.
Print Error Report
Select to have an error report printed if an error occurs during print data processing.
This setting is available when you use an RPCS, PCL 6 or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.
Job Separation
Completes sets of copies and shifts the output position of each. When printing large numbers of multiple-sheet jobs, the output can be automatically separated.
Rotate by 180 Degrees
Specify whether to rotate images by 180 degrees before printing.
Note
- This setting is unavailable when you use an RPCS printer driver.
Emulation SW
Select whether to automatically determine the printer language according to the job data.
Available selections are PS3, R55, and R16. For a job using another printer language, the language selected in the Emulation Priority list is used.
Note
- Even if On is selected in the Emulation SW list, the emulation switch command has priority if it is specified in the job.
- Depending on the job data type, the device may not switch to the correct printer language.
- If job data is submitted consecutively, the emulation switch may not function normally. If this happens, increase the time interval between job submissions.
Emulation Priority
Select the printer language or registered program activated as soon as the device is turned on.
Note
- When an option between Program 1 and Program 16 is selected, the printer starts with the corresponding program activated. The registered program is used when printing under DOS.
Memory Usage
Select memory usage priority.
Select an option according to paper size, print resolution, and printer language used.
Font Priority
This setting uses memory for registering fonts and foreign characters.
Frame Priority
This setting uses memory for high speed printing.
Copies
Enter the default number of copies. Available values are between 1 and 999.
Note
- This setting is available when you use a PCL, PS3, or XPS printer driver, or when you select PDF or RTIFF printing.
Edge Smoothing
Select to enable edge smoothing.
When On is selected, jagged border lines of characters or images appear smoother.
Toner Saving
Select to enable toner saving mode.
When On is selected, a certain amount of dots are eliminated from black areas.
Note
- If Toner Saving is On, Edge Smoothing is ignored, even if it is On.
Sub Paper Size
Specify whether or not the paper size switches automatically when paper of the specified size is not loaded in the tray. This feature supports automatic switching between A4 and Letter (8 ½ x 11) size paper only.
Note
- A4 and Letter (8 ½ x 11) have different maximum printable areas. Therefore, if you enable the switching option, images that extend beyond the printable area may be cropped.
- This setting is unavailable when you select RTIFF printing.
Input Tray
Select a paper tray for printing.
Note
- This setting is available when you use a PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.
Paper Type
Select the paper type.
Note
- This setting is unavailable when you use an RPCS printer driver, or when you select RTIFF printing.
Output Tray
Select the output tray.
Note
- This setting is available when you use a RPCS, PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF or RTIFF printing.
Letterhead Setting
Select to have the letterhead printed.
Off
Does not perform letterhead printing.
Auto Detect
Perform letterhead printing only when letterhead paper is specified.
On (Always)
Always perform letterhead printing.
PCL Menu
Configure settings for PCL printing.
Note
- Each of values set in the PCL Menu area may be reset to default by the validity test, performed when PCL is started.
Page Size
Select the default paper size.
Edge to Edge Print
Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting On results in output leaving no borders.
Duplex
Select whether or not to print on both sides of each page, and then select the binding orientation.
Orientation
Select the page orientation.
Form Lines
Enter the number of lines per page. You can enter between 5 and 128 lines.
Font Source
Set the default font location.
Font Number
Set the ID of the default font you want to use.
Point Size
Set the point size you want for the default font. You can enter between 4 and 999.75, in increments of 0.25.
Font Pitch
Set the number of characters per inch you want for the default font. You can enter between 0.44 and 99.99, in increments of 0.01.
Symbol Set
Specify the default font character set.
Nimbus Mono Font
Select the Nimbus Mono font type.
Extend A4 Width
Select to increase the width of the printable area for A4 paper, leaving narrow side margins.
Append CR to LF
Select to add a CR code to each LF code.
Resolution
Set the print resolution in dots per inch.
Blank Page Print
Select whether to print blank pages.
PS Menu
Configure settings for PS printing.
Job Timeout
Specify whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine takes longer than a specified time to process a job.
To apply a timeout limit, select Use Machine Setting(s), and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied.
If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.
Wait Timeout
Specify whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine waits longer than a specified time for job data.
To apply a timeout limit, select Use Machine Setting(s), and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied.
If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.
Paper Selection Method
Select the default method for paper selection.
Duplex
Select whether or not to print on both sides of each page, and then select the binding orientation.
Switching between 1 & 2 Sided Print Functions
Specify whether or not to continue the 2-sided print when a specific command is inserted between the front and back sides of the job in the 2-sided print process.
Blank Page Print
Select whether to print blank pages.
Data Format
Select the data format.
Resolution
Set the print resolution in dots per inch.
Edge to Edge Print
Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting On results in output leaving no borders.
Orientation Auto Detect
Specify whether or not the machine automatically detects the image orientation (Portrait/Landscape) of the job data it receives.
To enable auto detection of orientation, select On.
Font Change Confirmation
Specify whether or not to display the confirmation window when the Adobe fonts are specified in the printer driver.
Note
- This item does not appear if optional Adobe PostScript3 is installed.
Display
A confirmation window will appear. You can specify whether to replace Adobe fonts with substitutes and print a job or to cancel it. You can also check more details of information.
Do not Display
A job is printed replacing Adobe fonts with substitutes without the confirmation window.
PDF Menu
Configure settings for PDF printing.
Duplex
Select whether or not to print on both sides of each page, and then select the binding orientation.
Blank Page Print
Select whether to print blank pages.
Reverse Order Printing
Specify whether to start printing from the last page.
Resolution
Set the print resolution in dots per inch.
Edge to Edge Print
Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting On results in output leaving no borders.
Orientation Auto Detect
Specify whether or not the machine automatically detects the image orientation (Portrait/Landscape) of the job data it receives.

XPS Menu
Configure settings for XPS printing.
Duplex

RHPP Settings
Configure settings for RHPP printing.
After Errors Are Solved
Select an option to specify how jobs are handled after errors are cleared.
When Errors Occur
Select an option to specify how jobs are handled if an error occurs.
RHPP Timeout
Specify an RHPP timeout period within the range of 0 to 90,000 milliseconds.
After Misfed Paper Is Removed
Select an option to specify how the job is handled after misfed paper is removed.
Buttons
Refresh
Click to update the currently displayed information.
Note
- Before making the settings, click Refresh to obtain the machine's current status.
OK
Click to apply the settings.
Cancel
Click to cancel the settings.
