Printer Basic Settings

Use this page to make changes to the printer function settings.

Note

• Items displayed on this page correspond to those that can be set on the printer control panel.
• Settings on this page can be changed by the following Administrators and Users:
  • Machine Administrator
  • Logged-on Users
    User authentication is enabled on the device and Users are permitted to make changes to Administrator's setting items.

System

Make settings for the machine's basic operations.

Misfeed Recovery

Select whether to back up the data in case of paper jams that could occur during printing.

Print Error Report

Select to have an error report printed if an error occurs during print data processing.
This setting is available when you use an RPCS or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Auto Continue

Select the printer response when the appropriate paper tray matching paper size and type specified in the job, is not equipped with the printer.

Memory Overflow

Select the printer response if the job is too large.

Error Display Setting

Select the format of error message that appears on the device's control panel when an error occurs during print data processing.

Job Separation

Completes sets of copies and shifts the output position of each. When printing large numbers of multiple-sheet jobs, the output can be automatically separated.

Auto Delete Temporary Print Jobs

Select whether to automatically delete Locked, Sample, and Hold print jobs stored on the machine.
When [On] is selected, enter a time after which jobs stored on the machine are deleted. Enter from 1 to 200 hours.

Auto Delete Stored Print Jobs

Select whether to automatically delete Stored Print jobs stored on the machine.
When [On] is selected, enter a time after which jobs stored on the machine are deleted. You can enter a value between 1 and 180 (days).

Initial Print Job List

Select the initial view of the list that appears when [Printer] - [Print Jobs] is selected in the menu area.

Rotate by 180 Degrees

Select whether to rotate images by 180 degrees before printing.

Emulation SW

Select whether to automatically determine the printer language according to the job data.
Available selections are PS3, R55, and R16. For a job using another printer language, the language selected in the [Emulation Priority] list is used.

Note

• Even if [On] is selected in the [Emulation SW] list, the emulation switch command has priority if it is specified in the job.
• Depending on the job data type, the device may not switch to the correct printer language.
• If job data is submitted consecutively, the emulation switch may not function normally. If this happens, increase the time interval between job submissions.

Emulation Priority

Select the printer language or registered program activated as soon as the device is turned on.

Note

• When an option between [Program 1] and [Program 16] is selected, the printer starts with the corresponding program activated. The registered program is used when printing under DOS.

Memory Usage

Select memory usage priority.
Select an option according to paper size, print resolution, and printer language used.

Copies

Enter the default number of copies. Available values are between 1 and 999.

B&W Page Detect

Select whether to automatically switch the print mode between color and black-and-white according to the job data. To do so, specify whether to switch the print mode is per page or per job.

Edge Smoothing

Select to enable edge smoothing.
When [On] is selected, jagged border lines of characters or images appear smoother.

Toner Saving

Select to enable toner saving mode.
When [On] is selected, a certain amount of dots are eliminated from black areas.

Note

• If [Toner Saving] is [On], [Edge Smoothing] is ignored, even if it is [On].

Spool Image

Select whether to use the image spooling function.
When the image spooling function is enabled, the machine stores the received job data as images, and prints them out after all job data is received.

Reserved Job Waiting Time

Select the timeout period to elapse before beginning the next job.

Note

• This setting is enabled only when [Job Order] is selected for [Print Priority]. You can make settings for [Print Priority] on the [Configuration: Device Settings: System] page.

Sub Paper Size

Select whether to switch the paper size between A4 and Letter (8 ½ x 11).

Note

• A4 and Letter (8 ½ x 11) have different maximum printable areas. Therefore, if you enable the switching option, images that extend beyond the printable area may be cropped.

Letterhead Setting

Select to have the letterhead printed.

Bypass Tray Setting Priority

When using the bypass tray, select whether to give priority to the device's paper settings or the job's paper settings.

Tray Switching

Select whether or not to switch to the alternate tray when paper size or type specified in the job data does not match paper loaded in the specified tray.

Extended Auto Tray Switching

Select whether or not the machine automatically switches to another tray containing paper of the required size, orientation, and type if the specified tray runs out of paper during a job.

Virtual Printer

Select whether to enable or disable the virtual printer function.

Note

• You can create a virtual printer using the [Virtual Printer Settings] page (accessed from [Configuration] - [Printer]).

List/Test Print Lock

Select whether to disable test print.
If [On] is selected, the printer cannot print test pages even if it receives the test print command.

Host Interface

Make network connection-related settings.

I/O Buffer

Set the I/O Buffer's memory size.

Note

• Normally it is not necessary to change this setting.

I/O Timeout

Set the number of seconds the printer waits before ending a print job if more data is not received through parallel interface or USB. When the specified period elapses, data reception through other interfaces is possible.

Note

• If the value specified is too small, a timeout may occur in the middle of a print job.

PCL Settings

Make settings for PCL printing.

Note

• Each of values set in the [PCL Settings] area may be reset to default by the validity test, performed when PCL is started.

Page Size

Select the default paper size.

Blank Page Print

Select whether to print blank pages.

Duplex

Select to print on both sides of each page.

Orientation

Select the page orientation.

Form Lines

Enter the number of lines per page. You can enter between 5 and 128 lines.

Font Source

Set the default font location.

Font Number

Set the ID of the default font you want to use.

Point Size

Set the point size you want for the default font. You can enter between 4 and 999.75, in increments of 0.25.

Font Pitch

Set the number of characters per inch you want for the default font. You can enter between 0.44 and 99.99, in increments of 0.01.

Symbol Set

Specify the default font character set.

Courier Font

Select a courier font type.

Extend A4 Width

Select to increase the width of the printable area for A4 paper, leaving narrow side margins.

Append CR to LF

Select to add a CR code to each LF code.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

Edge to Edge Print

Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting [On] results in output leaving no borders.

PS Menu

Make settings for PS printing.

Job Timeout

Select whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine takes longer than a specified time to process a job.
To apply a timeout limit, select "Use Machine Settings", and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied. If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.

Wait Timeout

Select whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine waits longer than a specified time for job data.
To apply a timeout limit, select "Use Machine Settings", and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied. If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.

Duplex

Select to print on both sides of each page. When [On] is selected, select the binding orientation also.

Blank Page Print

Select whether to print blank pages.

Data Format

Select the data format.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

Color Setting

Select whether to apply color correction when converting an RGB color image into a CMYK color image, and if yes, select the correction level.

Color Profile

Select the color profile you want to use.

Process Color Model

Select the process color model that you want to apply.

Edge to Edge Print

Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting [On] results in output leaving no borders.

PDF Menu

Make settings for PDF printing.

Duplex

Select to print on both sides of each page. When [On] is selected, select the binding orientation also.

Blank Page Print

Select whether to print blank pages.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

Color Setting

Select whether to apply color correction when converting an RGB color image into a CMYK color image, and if yes, select the correction level.

Color Profile

Select the color profile you want to use.

Process Color Model

Select the process color model that you want to apply.

Edge to Edge Print

Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting [On] results in output leaving no borders.

Stamp: On/Off Settings

Background Numbering

Select whether to print Locked Print jobs with background numbering.
If [On] is selected, make necessary settings in the [Stamp: Background Numbering Settings] area as described below.

Preset Stamp

Select whether to print jobs with a stamp mark registered to the device.
If [On] is selected, make necessary settings in the [Stamp: Preset Stamp Settings] area as described below.

User Stamp

Select whether to print jobs with a stamp mark registered by a user.
If [On] is selected, make necessary settings in the [Stamp: User Stamp Settings] area as described below.

Date Stamp

Select whether to print jobs with a date stamp.
If [On] is selected, make necessary settings in the [Stamp: Date Stamp Settings] area as described below.

Stamp: Background Numbering Setting

Start Number

Enter the start number for numbering.

Stamp: Preset Stamp Settings

Stamp Type

Select the stamp type used for printing.
When you select a stamp type, the corresponding stamp mark appears as an icon.

Stamp Position

Select the position for printing the stamp.

Page to Stamp

Select whether to print the stamp on all or only the first page.

Stamp Color

Select the color used for printing the stamp.

Stamp: User Stamp Settings

Stamp Type

Select the user stamp type for printing.

Stamp Position

Select the position for printing the stamp.

Page to Stamp

Select whether to print the stamp on all or only the first page.

Stamp Color

Select the color used for printing the stamp.

Stamp: Date Stamp Settings

Date Stamp Format Settings

Select the format of the date stamp.

Position

Select the position for the date.

Page to Stamp

Select whether to print the date on all pages, or only the first page.

Stamp Color

Select the color used for printing the date.

Buttons

[Refresh]

Click to update the currently displayed information.

Note

• Before making the settings, click [Refresh] to obtain the machine's current status.

[OK]

Click to apply the settings.

[Cancel]

Click to cancel the settings.
