Notes on Usage of the Machine

WARNING

  • Avoid taking the following actions close to or inside this machine because doing so can result in fire or electric shock:
    • Using flammable sprays, solvents, and so on

    • Placing flammable sprays, solvents, and so on

    • Placing containers holding liquids or small metal objects

CAUTION

  • Do not obstruct the machine's vents. Doing so can result in fire as the internal components are overheated.
  • When disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet, make sure to pull the plug, not the cord. Do not pull the power cord forcibly. Doing so can damage the power cord, possibly resulting in fire or electric shock.
  • If you do not use the machine for a long period of time such as consecutive holidays, be sure to disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet for reasons of safety.

Important

  • The fan inside the machine near the vents may continue running to cool the machine after a large print job. While the fan is running, do not turn off the main power nor disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.

  • The area around the vents might feel warm. This is caused by exhaust air and is not a malfunction.

  • A change in temperature may cause dew condensation to occur inside the machine. If condensation occurs, leave the machine be for more than one hour and allow it to adapt to the environment before use.

  • Do not turn off the power of the machine while a process is in progress. Before turning off the machine, check that all operations and processes are completed.

  • Do not open the covers while a process is in progress. A paper jam may occur.

  • Do not move or tilt the machine while the power is on, and do not expose the machine to vibration. Ink may leak and cause a malfunction or damage the hard disk or memory, resulting in loss of stored files.

  • After turning on the machine, do not open the covers of the machine until two long beeps sound. Doing so might cause a malfunction.

  • Do not knock the machine while it is operating (for instance, do not use the machine's surfaces to knock stacks of paper into square).

  • If you do not use the machine for a long time, remove the paper from the paper input location and place it in its storage bag.

  • In addition to printing, ink is also consumed when the machine's power is turned on, head cleaning is performed, and print cartridges are installed.

  • The machine uses more ink when cold or hot.

  • The print heads will slowly return to their initial positions if the cartridge cover or paper input location cover is opened.

  • The print heads will stop at the position they are at when the front cover is opened. Do not leave the front cover open.
