Send Settings (Fax Settings)

This section describes the settings in [Send Settings] under [Fax Settings].

How to Use the "Settings"

Setting Items

Description

Maximum Email Size

Specify whether to set a limit to the size of a file that can be sent by an e-mail.

When selecting [On], specify the maximum file size in [Size Limit] between 128-102,400 KB (100 MB).

If sending the e-mail is canceled for the file size exceeding the upper limit, an Error Report is output and the e-mail is deleted.

  • Default: [Off]

Register/Change/Delete Standard Message

You can register up to three fixed phrases to print on the first page of the page received at the destination. The following phrases that are registered by default cannot be changed: "Confidential", "Urgent", "Please phone", and "Copy to corres. Section".

Memory File Transfer (If Unable to Print)

Specify this setting to forward all documents in the memory and the received documents stored on the hard disk drive on another fax when the machine is unable to perform printing due the toner or paper running out.

The document is not deleted from the memory or hard disk drive after forwarding it.

Backup File Transmission Setting

Specify whether to send a backup of the sent document to the specified folder.

  • This setting applies to documents sent by Memory Transmission on the control panel, in Web Image Monitor and by LAN-Fax, and delivery file received via SMTP.

  • Specify a folder destination to send the backup from the address book.

  • A name in the format of "transmission result+destination name+date and time" or "transmission result+destination name+date and time+login user name or user code" is given to the file to be sent.

  • The format specified in [File Type to Transfer] is used as the file format.

  • If the file name coincides with the name of another file, a suffix number is appended at the end.

  • When a Backup File Transmission is not completed normally, a backup file TX communication failure report is printed.

  • Default: [Off]

Number of Resends Settings

Specify whether to perform redialing automatically when a transmission error occurs while sending a fax by Memory Transmission, Backup File Transmission, or Folder Transfer. When specifying [On] in [Resend], specify the number of times to perform redialing in [Number of Resends].

    • Number of Resends in Memory Transmission: [On], [4] time(s)

    • Number of Resends in Backup File: [On], [191] time(s)

    • Number of Resends in Folder Transfer: [On], [143] time(s)

Prevent Incorrect Transmissions

Configure the machine to prevent selecting a wrong fax destination.

  • Show Destinations Before Transmission

    Specify whether to display the confirmation screen after [Start] is pressed. You cannot use this function when using On-hook dialing and manual dialing.

    • Default: [Off]

  • Enter Destination Multiple Times

    Specify whether to enter the number again for confirmation. You cannot use this function when sending a fax to an IP-Fax destination.

    • Default: [Off]

  • Transmission to Multiple Destinations

    Specify whether to prohibit broadcast transmission. When prohibited, you cannot specify a group destination

    • Default: [Do not Prohibit]

  • Display Prompt for Multiple Destinations

    Specify whether to display the confirmation message when adding a destination.

    • Default: [Off]

Preventing a Fax Transmission to the Wrong Destination

Stored Fax File Auto Delete

(This setting item is valid only when [Fax (Classic)] is used.)

Specify whether to delete stored sent documents in the Document Server automatically.

  • Default: [Same as System Settings]

Email address/Folder Path on Communication Log

Specify whether to display the e-mail address or folder path instead of the destination's name in the destination field of the transmission history when sending or forwarding a document to a destination registered in the address book.

  • Default: [Do not Display]
