Creating a Device Certificate (Issued by a Certificate Authority)

Create the device certificate using a web browser from networked computers. (We use Web Image Monitor installed on this machine.)

This section explains the use of a certificate issued by a certificate authority as the device certificate.

When installing multiple certificates at the same time, be sure to check the certificate destination and installation procedure. If you request multiple certificates at the same time, the issuing location may not be displayed.

1Open a web browser from a networked computer, and then log in to Web Image Monitor as the network administrator.

For details on how to log in, see Administrator Login Method.

2Point to [Device Management], and then click [Configuration].

3Click [Device Certificate] under "Security".

4Check the radio button next to the number of the certificate you want to create.

To use SSL/TLS, select [Certificate1]. To use any other protocol, select the certificate number you want to use.

5Click [Request].

6Configure the necessary settings.

For details about the displayed items and selectable items, see Web Image Monitor Help.

To use the device certificate for S/MIME, PDF Digital Signature, or PDF/A Digital Signature, enter the machine administrator’s e-mail address in the e-mail address setting.

7Click [OK].

The setting is changed.

8Click [OK].

"Requesting" appears for "Certificate Status".

To cancel the request for the device certificate, click [Cancel Request].

9Log out.

For details about logging out, see Administrator Logout Method.

10Apply to the certificate authority for the device certificate.

The application procedure depends on the certificate authority. For details, contact the certificate authority.

For the application, click Web browser screen illustrationWeb Image MonitorDetails icon and use the information that appears in "Certificate Details".

Note

  • Web Image Monitor can be used for creating the device certificate but not for requesting the certificate to the certificate authority.
