Specify whether Users have to be authenticated before they can use the device.
If yes, select the authentication method and configure necessary settings.
Note
- The User Authentication Management page provides settings for User Authentication.
If a user logs in to the device as administrator via the Web browser, the user remains authenticated via the administrator data stored on the device.
You can configure settings for administrator login data on the Device Management: Configuration: Device Settings: Program/Change Administrator page.
To specify whether administrator must be authenticated before making settings on the device control panel, use the Configuration: Device Settings: Administrator Authentication Management page.
- Settings on this page can be changed by the following administrators and users:
- Machine Administrator
- Login users
User authentication is enabled on the device and users are permitted to make changes to administrator's setting items.
User Authentication Management
Specify whether User Authentication is performed, and if yes, select the authentication method.
When you select the desired authentication method, its setting items appear.
Note
- To enable Basic Authentication, Windows Authentication, or LDAP Authentication, On must be selected for User Administrator Authentication on the Configuration: Device Settings: Administrator Authentication Management page.
Off
User Authentication is not performed, and the user code management (limiting functions or counting total pages by user code) is disabled.
User Code
User Authentication is not performed, but the user code management (limiting functions or counting total pages by user code) is enabled.
Basic Authentication
User Authentication is performed using Address Book data stored on the device.
Windows Authentication
User Authentication is performed using a domain controller in Windows directory services (such as Active Directory).
LDAP Authentication
User Authentication is performed using the LDAP server.
