Use this page to make changes to the printer function settings.

System

Configure settings for the machine's basic operations.

Print Error Report

Select to have an error report printed if an error occurs during print data processing.
This setting is available when you use a PCL 6 or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Auto Continue

Select the printer response when the appropriate paper tray matching paper size and type specified in the job, is not equipped with the printer.

Off

The printer stops operation until the correct paper is loaded.

Immediate, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes

When the specified period of time elapses, the printer does the following:
When Auto Select is specified, the printer checks trays in the order of Paper Tray Priority, Tray 1, Tray 2, Tray 3, and Bypass Tray, for trays with paper loaded. When the printer detects a tray with paper loaded, it begins printing.
When Auto Select is not specified and the paper tray is specified by the job, the printer begins printing using the tray, regardless of size and type of paper loaded in the tray. If the specified tray has no paper loaded, the printer stops operation until the correct paper is loaded.

Store and Skip Errored Job

Specify whether or not to store the print job on the machine when the job is stopped because of the print error. By storing and skipping jobs with errors,, a print job after the job with the error is processed and printed. To print the stored print job, go to the Print Job List page.

No. of Pages to Judge if a Job has Error

After the function checked through the specified pages for errors, the print job is processed. The machine does not feed a paper until the error check is finished. You can avoid the situation described above in the note.

Memory Overflow

Select the printer response if the job is too large.

Do not Print

Resets the job at the error page. Subsequent pages following the error page are not printed.

Error Information

For the error page, job data before the error is processed and printed. Subsequent pages are printed normally, and the error sheet is printed at the end. When this happens, the electronic collation is canceled.

Job Separation

Completes sets of copies and shifts the output position of each. When printing large numbers of multiple-sheet jobs, the output can be automatically separated.

Auto Delete Temporary Print Jobs

Select whether to automatically delete Locked, Sample, and Hold print jobs stored on the machine.
When On is selected, enter a time after which jobs stored on the machine are deleted. Enter from 1 to 200 hours.

Auto Delete Stored Print Jobs

Select whether to automatically delete Stored Print jobs stored on the machine.
When On is selected, enter a time after which jobs stored on the machine are deleted. You can enter a value between 1 and 180 (days).

Initial Print Job List

Select the initial view of the list that appears when Print Job/Stored File - Printer: Print Jobs is selected in the menu area.

Rotate by 180 Degrees

Select whether to rotate images by 180 degrees before printing.

Print Compressed Data

Select whether to print incoming compressed job data after decompressing it on the printer.

Memory Usage

Select memory usage priority.
Select an option according to paper size, print resolution, and printer language used.

Font Priority

This setting uses memory for registering fonts and foreign characters.

Frame Priority

This setting uses memory for high speed printing.

Duplex

Select whether or not to print on both sides of each page, and then select the binding orientation.
This setting is available when you use a PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Copies

Enter the default number of copies. Available values are between 1 and 999.
This setting is available when you use a PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Blank Page Print

Select whether to print blank pages.

Edge Smoothing

Select to enable edge smoothing.
When On is selected, jagged border lines of characters or images appear smoother.

Toner Saving

Select to enable toner saving mode.
When On is selected, a certain amount of dots are eliminated from black areas.

Note

Reserved Job Waiting Time

Select the timeout period to elapse before beginning the next job.

Note

Printer Language

Select the printer language to be used.
When Auto is selected, the printer automatically switches between the available printer languages according to job data format.

Sub Paper Size

Select whether to switch the paper size between A4 and Letter (8 ½ x 11).

Note

Page Size

Select the default paper size.
This setting is available when you use a PCL printer driver.

Letterhead Setting

Select to have the letterhead printed.

Off

Does not perform letterhead printing.

Auto Detect

Perform letterhead printing only when letterhead paper is specified.

On (Always)

Always perform letterhead printing.

Tray Setting Priority

When using input trays, select whether to give priority to the device's paper settings or to the job's paper settings.

Note

Machine Setting(s)

Jobs are printed using the paper settings (such as paper size and type) configured on the machine.

Driver/Command

Jobs are printed using the paper settings (such as paper size and type) configured for the job.

Any Type

Even if the paper type settings configured for the job do not match the paper loaded in the trays, a paper mismatch error will not occur and jobs will be printed from the bypass tray.

Paper Confirmation for Bypass Tray

Select whether or not to display the confirmation page for checking the paper size, type and direction on the bypass tray before the paper is fed from the tray.

Edge to Edge Print

Select to print over the whole sheet area, leaving no edge borders.
Selecting On results in output leaving no borders.
This setting is available when you use a PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Default Printer Language

Select the default printer language activate when the printer is turned on.

Tray Switching

Select whether or not to switch to the alternate tray when paper size or type specified in the job data does not match paper loaded in the specified tray.
This setting is available when you use a PCL or PS3 printer driver, or when you select PDF printing.

Off

Do not make switching. The job will result in an error.

On

Outputs the job using the paper tray having the correct paper, if available.

Collate Settings

Select whether or not to collate multiple printed sets.

Collate

Outputs each set in page order.

Rotating Collate

Outputs each set in page order, rotating every other set by 90 degrees.

Shift Collate

Outputs each set in page order, staggering every other set.

Staple Settings

Select whether or not to staple each copy, and if yes, select the staple position.

Off

Do not staple.

Top 2

Staple the top of the paper in two positions.

Top Left

Staple the top left of the paper in one position. Staple orientation is vertical.

Top Left Slant

Staple the top left of the paper in one position. Staple orientation is slanted.

Top Right

Staple the top right of the paper in one position. Staple orientation is vertical.

Top Right Slant

Staple the top right of the paper in one position. Staple orientation is slanted.

Left 2

Staple the left side of the paper in two positions.

Right 2

Staple the right side of the paper in two positions.

Center

Staple the center of the paper in two positions.

Punch Settings

Select whether or not to punch the printed paper, and if yes, select the punch position.

Off

Do not punch.

Top 2, Top 3, Top 4, Left 2, Left 3, Left 4, Right 2, Right 3, Right 4

The above are the number of punch holes and their positions.

List/Test Print Lock

Select whether to disable test print.
If On is selected, the printer cannot print test pages even if it receives the test print command.

Extended Auto Tray Switching

Select whether or not the machine automatically switches to another tray containing paper of the required size, orientation, and type if the specified tray runs out of paper during a job.

Jobs Not Printed As Machine Was Off

Specify how the machine responds when the Hold Print (Print at Set Time) jobs are not printed because the main power of the machine is turned off.

Print When Machine On

Prints the jobs automatically when the main power is turned on.

Do not Print

Does not print the jobs even when the main power is turned on. The status changes to Hold Print (Incomplete: Print at Set Time). If you want to print them, go to the Print Job List page where you can print it.

Restrict Direct Print Jobs

Specify whether or not to store print jobs on the machine's hard disk without printing out them to the output tray.

Off

Prints out the jobs.

Automatically Store Jobs

Does not print out the jobs and stores them on the machine's hard disk. If you want to print them, go to the Print Job List page where you can print it.

Cancel

Cancels all jobs to be printed out to the output tray.

Initial screen switch setting

Specify an initial screen to be displayed when the printer function is selected on the device control panel.

Virtual Printer

Select whether to enable or disable the virtual printer function.

Configure the network connection-related settings.

I/O Buffer

Set the I/O Buffer's memory size.

Note

I/O Timeout

Set the number of seconds the printer waits before ending a print job if more data is not received through parallel interface or USB. When the specified period elapses, data reception through other interfaces is possible.

Configure settings for PCL printing.

Note

Orientation

Select the page orientation.

Form Lines

Enter the number of lines per page. You can enter between 5 and 128 lines.

Font Source

Set the default font location.

Font Number

Set the ID of the default font you want to use.

Point Size

Set the point size you want for the default font. You can enter between 4 and 999.75, in increments of 0.25.

Font Pitch

Set the number of characters per inch you want for the default font. You can enter between 0.44 and 99.99, in increments of 0.01.

Symbol Set

Specify the default font character set.

Courier Font

Select a courier font type.

Extend A4 Width

Select to increase the width of the printable area for A4 paper, leaving narrow side margins.

Append CR to LF

Select to add a CR code to each LF code.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

PS Menu

Configure settings for PS printing.

Job Timeout

Select whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine takes longer than a specified time to process a job.
To apply a timeout limit, select Use Machine Setting(s), and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied. If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.

Wait Timeout

Select whether or not to apply a timeout limit if the machine waits longer than a specified time for job data.
To apply a timeout limit, select Use Machine Setting(s), and then specify the time that must elapse (up to 999 seconds) before the timeout is applied. If you enter "0", the machine does not apply a timeout limit.

Switching between 1 & 2 Sided Print Functions

Select whether or not to continue the 2-sided print when a specific command is inserted between the front and back sides of the job in the 2-sided print process.

Data Format

Select the data format.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

Toner Saving

Reduces the amount of toner used when printing. While this increases the life of the toner cartridge, the output appears slightly lighter.

Color Setting

Select whether to apply color correction when converting an RGB color image into a CMYK color image, and if yes, select the correction level.

Color Profile

Select the color profile you want to use.

Auto

The printer automatically selects an appropriate color profile according to the job data.

Presentation

Text color reproduction is improved.

Solid Color

Solid color area reproduction is improved (optimal for artwork and graphics).

Photographic

Gray scale image reproduction is improved.

User Setting

The color profile embedded in the job data is used.

Process Color Model

Select the process color model that you want to apply.

Orientation Auto Detect

Specify whether or not the machine automatically detects the image orientation (Portrait/Landscape) of the job data it receives.
To enable auto detection of orientation, select On.

Gray Reproduction

Select the printing method appropriate for black and gray areas of documents.

Black/Gray by K (Black)

Prints black and gray using black toner only. Compared to the black printed with CMYK toner, this results in a black that is relatively flatter and purer.

Note:

  • Depending on the application you are using, black and gray images may print with CMYK toner even if Black/Gray by K (Black) is selected.

Black by K (Black)

Prints black text and graphics using black toner only.

CMY + K

Prints black and gray on all pages using four colors: CMY (Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow) and K (Black).

Black/Gray by K (Black) -Text Only

Prints black and gray text using black toner only.

Black by K (Black) -Text Only

Prints black text using black toner only.

PDF Menu

Configure settings for PDF printing.

Reverse Order Printing

Select whether to start printing from the last page.

Resolution

Set the print resolution in dots per inch.

Toner Saving

IPDS Menu

Configure settings for IPDS.

Tray Form

Allocate an IPDS form to each paper tray.
For each paper tray, select the form you want to allocate to it.

Emulation Mode

Select the emulation mode.

Print Mode

Select the print resolution in dots per inch.

Default Code Page

Specify the default code page.

Default FGID

Specify the default FGID (Font Typeface Global Identifier), which identifies the default resident font.

Characters Per Inch

Select the pitch (in characters per inch) of the default font.

Valid Printable Area Check

Specify whether or not to enable valid printable area checking.

Edge to Edge

Specify whether or not to enable edge-to-edge printing.

Font Substitution

Specify whether or not to enable font substitution.

Caching

Specify whether or not to enable the caching for repeated overlays.

Font Capture

Specify whether or not to enable the font capture.

Resolution

Specify the resolution reported to the host in the IPDS XOA-OPC command for raster coded fonts and IM1 images support.

Graphic Character String

Select the Graphic Character String (Graphic Character Sizing) processing method.

Bar Code

Specify the bar code level.

Box Draw

Select the box draw processing method.

Color Simulation

Select the color simulation.

Text Color Simulation

Specify whether or not to enable the text color simulation.

Suppress Staple Count Nacks

Select whether or not to notify the host of stapling errors.

Suppress Punch Nacks

Select whether or not to notify the host of punching errors.

Tray Mapping

Configure settings for the tray mapping.
If you select Auto, the default host media source ID is automatically selected for the media source (input tray).
If you select IPDS Tray, manually enter the ID number (between 0 and 254) the host uses for the media source.

Corner Staple Angle

Select the angle of the corner staple.

Offset

Specify whether or not the output is offset (jogged).
On - Default setting. Output is offset if the job's settings specify offset output.
Off - Output is not offset, even if the job's settings specify offset output.

Default Punch Pattern

Select the default number of holes to punch if the punch unit provides a selection (for example, two or four holes).
