Bonjour

Make settings related to Bonjour (Rendezvous).
Some items are for reference only and cannot be changed.

Note

• Bonjour (formerly known as Rendezvous) was launched upon the release of Mac OS X 10.4.
• Settings made here relate to the following interfaces:
  Ethernet, wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b), and IEEE 1394.
• Settings on this page can be changed by the following Administrators and Users:
  • Network Administrator
  • Logged-on Users
    User authentication is enabled on the device and Users are permitted to make changes to Administrator's setting items.

Bonjour

Select whether to enable or disable Bonjour for the device's interface boards.

Note

• If you are using IPv6, Bonjour cannot be enabled.

Ethernet/IEEE 802.11b/Ethernet+IEEE 802.11b

[Ethernet], [IEEE 802.11b], or [Ethernet+IEEE 802.11b] appears depending on the interface board installed.

Local Hostname

Displays the Bonjour host name.
This indicates the host name of the network interface board or wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) board, to which ".local" is appended.

Note

• The Bonjour name may consist of the IPv4 host name followed by a hyphen and number, for example: IPHostName-2.local. If two or more devices with the same host name are connected to the same LAN, a sequence number is appended to the host name.

IP over 1394

These settings relate to IP over 1394 on the IEEE 1394 board. This information appears when an IEEE 1394 board is installed.

Local Hostname

Displays the Bonjour host name.
This indicates the host name of the IEEE 1394 board, to which ".local" is appended.

Note

• The Bonjour name may consist of the TCP/IP host name followed by a hyphen and number, for example: IPHostName-2.local. If two or more devices with the same host name are connected to the same LAN, a sequence number is appended to the host name.

Details

These settings are common to the network interface board, wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) board, and IEEE 1394 board.

Computer Name

Enter a name to identify the device using Bonjour, using up to 63 characters.
The default is the manufacturer's name followed by the device model.

Location

Enter the device location, using up to 32 characters. This item is linked to [Location] on the [Configuration] - [Device Settings] - [System] page.

Print Order Priority (DIPRINT), Print Order Priority (LPR), Print Order Priority (IPP)

Enter the priority for each protocol type, between 0 and 99. The lower the value, the higher the priority.
The default is 10 for [DIPRINT], 20 for [LPR], and 30 for [IPP].
